There are many programs and activities that your children are involved with each week.  From soccer to judo class to dancing lessons, it can be hard to fit everything in! With so many options, it can be difficult to make a decision about what programs are most beneficial to your child.

 

Why Music?

It’s well known that learning music in a structured environment has an unparalleled positive impact on children. Music helps them develop essential skills including problem solving, fine motor skills, right brain/left brain interaction, and concentration and discipline. The renowned pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki believed that every child is born with the ability to be musical – the potential just needs to be recognized and developed. Giving your child the gift of music expands their horizons and gives them increased opportunities for the future in employment, education, and recreation.

At Steel City Conservatory of Music (SCCM), we believe that the benefits of structured music education can be nurtured without causing the student to lose his/her initial love of music. Informed by Suzuki’s teaching philosophy, our teachers have been selected for their ability to provide a nurturing environment that emphasizes that music is meant to be practiced and enjoyed. Our goal is for each child to leave the conservatory feeling encouraged in his or her accomplishments each week, and inspired toward further growth through practice at home.
